The TECUM project team represents an exceptional collaboration between two prominent Montreal hospital centers, CHU Sainte-Justine and CHUM. The medical team strives to promote an effective and sustainable transition model for adolescent patients with complex epilepsy, guiding them from pediatric to adult healthcare.
The Leaders
This innovative project is led by two main leaders. At its head is Dr. Mark Keezer, a neurologist expert in epilepsy treatment, who is responsible for the program. He is supported by a co-leader, Dr. Philippe Major, a pediatric neurologist and head of the neuropediatrics group at CHU Sainte-Justine.
Company History
Drs. Keezer and Major have always placed great importance on patient transition since the beginning of their medical practice. The idea of a transition program was already discussed between 2017 and 2020. However, it was in 2022 that the team obtained a grant from TD Bank to implement this transition program called TECUM. This program aims to expand provincially and nationally.
Patient Privacy
Ensuring patient information confidentiality is a major priority, aiming to protect everyone's rights. Exceptions to this rule generally occur in response to an official request, usually made by a family member. These information requests are subject to careful and attentive evaluation, with informed consent obtained by the research team.
